I wanted to take a second and share something with everyone. I sent in one of my personal 2.4GHz transmitters to spektrum for repair, and I got it back today. When I opened the box I noticed a new, spare receiver with my freshly repaired radio and a note saying "we don't like being without our radios, so we added a little something for your trouble".  Wow! I love good old fasioned customer service like that!

If you're in the market for a 2.4GHz radio for anything R.C. I highly recommend a spektrum!

As soon as I heard the news about the Losi Micro Crawler, I couldn't wait to get my hands one! It's really exiting (to me) as a scale/off-road enthusiast to see the area of the hobby i enjoy so much, expand into all the separate scales and classes.

I had all these little scale truck designs going through my head about which 1:25 scale model kit I was going to buy to turn my micro crawler into a micro "scaler". I think I had three bodies on my work bench before I even had the crawler!

This has turned out to be one fun little truck that I can pretty much run wherever I want. Check out the video below for a close up look at my custom micro Hummer H2T.

Let it snow! We're enjoying a VERY rare snow fall here in Houston Texas today, seeing as how we're 40 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico!  This is the earliest we've had a trace of snow in our city EVER in recorded weather history! Crazy I Know...

We have to deal with 100 degree temperatures in the summer, Hurricanes, and now snow!

Here's a shot of the crew out enjoying the weather.  From left to right, Mo, Frank & Jay.

I'm headed to see my old buddy Luis Diaz who drives for the Lowes team on the American Lemans circuit. The race is at Laguna Seca near Monterrey CA, and I am realy looking forward to hanging out with Luis who is an avid Mini-Z racer and drives one of our AtomicBuilt team cars.

I'll try to get some behind the scenes pics and video while I am there.

You’re never too young or old to enjoy racing. One of our valued customers Mr. Lapshan enjoys racing his new team car at his local race track on Wednesday nights.  He had just a few words of enjoyment “Hey Frank, Great Job!! I won the B Main the first time out. Kudos." :-)

To all our customer who just like to have fun racing….Keep it fun and you'll always be happy.

Radio Controlled rock crawling has really taken off in the past couple of years and with it, a few different variations have evolved.  It all started with guys trying to put together rock crawlers from older monster truck kits like the Tamiya TLT and the Clod buster because no one made a “rock crawler” kit.

As the crawling scene really started to blow up, the large companies took notice and you started to see rock crawler kits and aftermarket parts (i.e. tires, wheels, etc…) hit the market in a big way. Now you have the 2.2 and 1.9 (wheel size) crawlers making up the largest segment of the crawler market, and I’ve settled on the 1.9 size.

I’ve been a scale model and R.C. enthusiast off and on since the age of twelve, and I’m not going to tell you how old I am now so let’s just say I’ve been doing this a long time.  It was RC Crawling that got me back into the RC game, and I started out with a 2.2 Axial/Tamiya, TLT Axled, Frankenstein monster of sorts a friend of mine picked up for me on eBay as a Birthday gift. The truck has morphed from a 2.2 comp crawler to a 2.2 “scaler”  and now has been stripped of its axles for a custom 1.9 scale truck build.

The true to life detail and scale realism of the 1.9 Trail trucks is really what drew me into the category and I guess it’s a large enough market for companies like Axial to produce trucks like the SCX10 and Pro-line to produce their line of scale bodies and accessories. I guess you could say the 1.9 scale truck has been around (and in my heart) for a long time, way longer than the 2.2 class. If you look at the Tamiya F-350 and Toyota Hilux truck, the Hilux has been around since the early 1980’s and they just re-released their 1.9 CC-01 Jeep Wrangler kit!  Leave it up to Tamiya to be WAY ahead of the class.

You really can’t beat getting together with your scale truck buddies, enjoying a few cold beverages and hitting the trail. I guess you could say I’m pretty stoked about the 1.9 scale truck class as a whole (I own three) and I’m very excited to see where the future will take this area of the hobby.

Ever wonder why Kyosho doesn't offer any 2.4GHz Readysets? Check out my latest video for a look at what it takes to put together a 2.4GHz MR-02 and MA-010 AWD "Readysets"

It's really not that hard...I know you can do it!

Well it’s official. I’m addicted to an R.C. shortcourse Truck.  A few months ago some of my so called friends purchased Traxxas Slash trucks, and after watching the off-road carnage ensue, one of them said “you wanna try it? It’s free..”    (The first one is always free right?)   BAM! I’m addicted.

A few days later I’m in the hobby shop coughing up a couple of Benjamins for a new addition to an already overflowing hobby room.   On the way home it hits me that I’m going to have to explain this new addition to the wife at some point.  Luckily, her reaction was, “That thing is sweet!”    Cool, I’m not divorced!

All kidding aside, the Slash is a fun and tough piece of equipment.  Unfortunately it’s not in our lineup since are into smaller scale stuff, but its little brother will be!  We will be carrying the 1:16 scale Slash and eRevo from Traxxas pretty soon. The new 1:16 Slash will be a little different from its big brother (brushless and 4x4) so watch out!  I’ve already got the shakes just thinking about it. Maybe I need some rehab?
